Any thoughts or word on exercise 2? Keith Lango recently updated his site with a new tutorial on animating force, and he covers topicsw such as primary and secondary actions, momentum, inertia, etc. What does everyone think about studying the material that he covers, and then making a simple example of this?

I renew my suggestion of "swinging mallet hitting a ball." It's a variation on an exercise I was given last year by an instructor. I've put up a sample .mov here:
http://www.sabudesign.com/animation/bowling.mov
I think this would be a very good way of getting familiar with forces acting on each other... not only does the ball get hit, but the force is partially absorbed in the recoil of the hammer.
Perhaps we could take our six balls from Exercise #1, and place them on the pedestal in front of the hammer here.
The scene isn't very difficult to set up, and for those who use Maya, I'd be happy to provide the scene file with the pre-rigged mallet.

Hello all, i know that this second exercise should have started, but we are having some problems, furryspork is having problems to manage this forum.
... AArgh, iīm tired of waiting, i love this idea of our community and really want to see it working . The fact is, Furryspork donīt want to manage this forum anymore, she has her own reasons (she probably will explain it latter). Me and Shiroii set up a new forum here at proboards, we were doing some tests and moving threads, we didnīt announce it because we want know your opinion about this but somehow we did a mess with information and nothing was announced. I really want to know your opinion about all this. Changing our community forum again isnīt going to be a good thing to do, it means new registration, move every important information from here to there, so i want to know your opinion and especially suggestions to avoid future problems like this.
Iīm not going to announce anything new till we decide what we are going to do.
Sorry for all this and thanks for the comprehension. I hope to see our forum working again.

Stay here. Definitly. There surely wouldn't be a problem if you guys took over the forum? She said herself that it was just a forum that she happened to have started a while ago, but she never really used it...

Yeah, I second the notion to stay here. If at all possible.
Mooncalf, that's a perfect example of what we could work on. Something to that effect. My crit to you would be to keep the mallet's momentum forward, and not have it reverse instantly upon contact with the sphere. Try having it slow down a bit or something. It just stopping dead on and bouncing back looks a little strange..

hey guys! Sorry for my delays, I got caught by a huge swift of bronchitis and pretty much was incapcitated for two weeks.

I really don't know why we can't just stay here? If we left the forum a little more open and just had a few of us debate over excercise2 and then start the new e xcercise, in the same board, it wouldn't be bad I don't think? Well I know of copyright issues etc, and it seems to slow us down a lot..
I know changing boards wil lbe a bad a idea, but if you can find a simpler board or make a new one, or even have furry transmit her control over to you, hey! that would be great.
I really don't know what else to say guys. I'm with you 100% if you need anything. Ill keep posting updates in here of my progress etc too.
Good luck, please keep it together, these rough times is just evolution in motion

Hey guys,
The labs at my school are closed this weekend because of hurricane Frances, so I guess I've got a little time to explain all this.
I was hoping that I would be able to help get this site started and then, if I didn't have time to be administrator anymore, I would make someone else the administrator. Well, after my first week of school, I decided this was the case, but when I tried to make someone else administrator and delete my own administrative account, it didn't work. It seemed like it should have worked, but when I clicked on the button to delete my account, it wouldn't let me. I couldn't take administrative privileges away from myself, and worse, I could only give some, not all of those privileges to someone else. I contacted ProBoards support and had a discussion with them about this matter. I found out that not only could I not completely transfer admin privileges, but that they would not help me transfer data from the old board to the new one we would have to create, even though both boards would be on the same (proboards 30) server. I guess this is understandable considering that they run a free service, so they don't owe us anything.
This really sucks, but there's not much else I can do about it. I wish that ProBoards would have let me know somehow when I registered this forum that I wouldn't be able to transfer admin privileges. In my admin area here, it doesn't just look like it would be possible to transfer admin privileges, it looks like it would be easy. But then when you actually try to do that, it doesn't work.
I just posted a link to the new board on the main page, but here's another one: http://animationgroup.proboards30.com/
Good luck with the new forum. Sorry I couldn't let you all stay here, I really would have liked to.
